  1. Hi, your work is cute. I have been doing some job research for my son and i'm interested as to how you applied for your job. It just seems so hard with everything done on line. He is an illustrator also. I'd appreciate any info you can give. Thanks, Carol

  2. Hi Carol,

Thank you for your comment! I was told by both professors and advisors in college that jobs are hard to come by in this economy, and art jobs are nearly unheard of. After graduation I had no expectations of finding a job as an illustrator, and to tell the truth God blessed me by bringing it my way! However, the majority of illustrators go freelance if they plan on making it. Freelancing is hard and inconsistent work. I've heard that the trend is commissions come in floods and dry-spells. Your son needs to build up a portfolio and a name for himself. Like you said, everything these days is online which is a huge advantage. He can promote his work on a blog, a facebook fan page, or even instagram. Also, have him look into these organizations:

    Hope this helps,

    Jesse
