During the fall 2014 Cross Country season, I would train with the team in the Black Forest during practice, then rush to the art room to record the colors of the sky and landscapes I'd seen on the run. This produced a short series of oil pastel sketch studies where I practiced exaggerating the saturations of grey, autumn hues and composing the positive and negative spaces.

This piece is an original, applying what I learned from Jennifer Cavan's visual language to my own composition.
