Graphite, Adobe Photoshop, 2014, Happy Birthday Friedel
Graphite drawing scanned and digitally colored.
The German III teacher invited her German friend to teach the class how to make authentic German Linzertorte, in German! As a thank you (I audited the class to pick up the language), I illustrated this card for her birthday. They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and I've found it to be especially true in cross-cultural communication.

Graphite, Adobe Photoshop, 2014, Storch's Cinderella Tale
Graphite drawing scanned and digitally colored.
Opening illustration––doubling as the cover illustration––for a retelling of the Cinderella fairy-tale an RA wrote for her dorm girls at Black Forest Academy as a graduation gift.
So much fun to join her in this project and surprise her dorm students!

Following are two illustrations from a full spread featuring the evil step-sisters teasing Cinderella, and lastly an illustration of Cinderella dancing with the Prince at the ball.

Colored pencil, 2016, Fell in Love with a Garlic Clove
Used only the primary colors (magenta, krapplack madder, kadmiumgelb zitron, kadmiumgelb, phthaloblau hell, indigo dunkel, weiß) as a demonstration to my AP students that you can blend the full spectrum using these. Their assignment was to then draw this still life (including a jar of pasta) using the same colored pencils.
